"Help!" The voice called out from deep within the woods, desperate for a savior. "Please! Someone help me!" The forest's response was silence. No birds chirped, no rustling of the leaves in the tree, nor were there any of the small animals normally found skittering about his early in the morning. Only silence. Silence and the gentle sobs of a woman long in need of help. "I don't want to die here..." The voice shouted slowly dying off into a whimper. Finally something answered back. It wasn't a shout of a person or a call of an animal. It was the small insignificant clatter of a piece of stone shaking on top of a rock. The sound was faint and it was doubtful the woman would here it. Then it came again, the subtle rattle of stone against stone, this time far more distinct than before. A low rumble in the jungle came just a few seconds later, followed by another and then another until the whole jungle was shaking by the sound of the pounding of the Giant's steps. Each time his foot fell the world reverberated with his power. "Oh gods, thank you! Please help me, who ever you are!" The pounding steps ceased, replaced with the heavy breaths of the dark skinned giant. "Where.... are you.... girl," he said through heavy breaths, his heard pounding in his chest. For the past 5 hours he'd been moving at a dead run and during all those hours the voice never once seemed to get any closer. "Oh please hurry, I don't no how much longer I have!"
Several long breaths was even for Sevryn to recover from his run, the monster of a man was never winded very long. At least not from a run. The cool morning had long ago run it's course and the humid heat of the day was well on it's way to becoming probably the worse Sevryn had felt so far this year. Moisture from the air collected against his skin, beading together until their were heavy enough to run down the whole of his body and drop to the forest floor. "Shout again, I think I'm close by," he shouted, closing his eyes only so that he could focus on his hearing. "Oh please, Hurry. I'm right over here." Once again his thundering steps echoed through the forest, shaking tree and stone, warning all to flee before the coming giant. Around him the forest passed by but he never saw hide nor hair of the girl whose calls he'd been hearing all morning. After the hours of running though, he was no longer sure that this girl even existed, but was a pure figment of his mind. A phantom caused from the years of isolation. "Gods NO! GET AWAY! GET AWAY!" For the first time since he was roused from slumber the voice had changed directions. Hopefully it was a sign that he would finally find this girl and save her from her terrible fate. His feet burrowed deep duvets into the earth as he shifted directions mid run. He could hear her cries clear as day now, her weeping just on the other side of this wall of vines. Shoulder down, he charged forward rushing through the green vines and burst out the other side.
The Sun appeared to be in the same position, but the sun itself seemed a little bit off. The endless trees of the forest and the sweltering heat were replaced with tall rolling mountains and the icy chill of an arctic north. It was a dream, it had to be a dream. The world didn't just go from being a tropical forest to an Icy Mountain range, that's not how things worked. Every breath came out in a big white cloud of steam. The panic of a sudden unknown filled him and all he wanted was to go back to what was familiar. Bare feet crunched in the snow, backing him into the wall of vines, except the vines no longer hung behind him. What should have been soft warm green vines had become a frigid icy wall. "WHAT IS GOING ON!!!" The panic he had felt soon was replaced with rage. Trapped on an icy mountain path in lands that were far to unfamiliar, Sevryn didn't know what to do except to do what he had always done, smash everything in his way. "HUUUUUUUURRRRRRRAAAAAAAWWWWWRRR!!!" His deep booming voice echoed in an endless cycle, bouncing from mountain side to mountain side. The fury had gripped him now and he turned to the mountain wall that barred his way home. Enormous fist flew at the wall, smashing his tough flesh into the rocky barrier that was keeping him from going home. The howl of anger never ceased as he rammed his fists again and again and again into the immovable mountain face. This too was not right. In his home he could smash chunks of rock away with every swing. Now though, it left only his blood and small cracks. This only fueled his rage further and he pounded at the cliff face.
Had he been in a proper state of mind, he would have sought shelter. Had he been in a proper state of mind, he might have continued up the wide mountain road. Had he been in a proper state of mind, he would follow that road and found a City Built into a mountain. Icithia, the Capital of Hyouden. There he might have learned that he was no longer in his beloved homeland. He might have found people that wouldn't fear him for his size and appearance. In that city he might have gotten answers, found friends, found a family. He could do none of those things here though. He was a Berserker. A Berserker caught up in his own rage and frustration. All he could do now was crush anything and all he could.
